TO HOLD A SEMINAR CELEBRATING 25 YEARS SUPPORTING MICROENTERPRISE
IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN

Beneficiaries will present successful experiences at July
19 event in Washington
The Inter-American Development Bank will hold a seminar July
19 celebrating 25 years of support to the development of microenterprise
in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The meeting will be opened by IDB President Enrique V. Iglesias
at 9.30 a.m. at IDB headquarters in Washington, D.C. Beneficiaries
and representatives of executing agencies will present their
vision and successful experiences. IDB experts will comment
on innovative proposals and operations and future challenges.
The seminar will take place at the IDB headquarters main building,
1300 New York Ave, N.W., Washington, D.C. at the Andres Bello
Auditorium in the ninth floor.

The Inter-American Development Bank today announced the approval
of an $11 million loan to Costa Rica for a sustainable development
program in the binational watershed of the Sixaola River that
will complement a similar program on the opposite margin, in
the Panamanian province of Bocas del Toro.

Subsidies for the poor
to provide incentives to improve health, nutrition and school
attendance. The Inter-American Development Bank today announced
the approval of a $20 million soft loan to Honduras to support
a comprehensive
social safety network program that will offer subsidies
to poor families as incentives to raise the demand for nutritious
food, improve the health of infants, pregnant women and
lactating
mothers, and raise primary school enrollment and attendance.
